Share your device with your child?

So you need a computer (or a mobile phone or tablet) for your child. You should never ever share your device with your kids.

Children are curious and try things out. While working on your computer they might change important settings by accident. Or even worse, load malware on your device. Or delete important files (like photos) by mistake. Etc.

So the best way to avoid these troubles is by giving your child their own device. This way your data is safe. Your child can use his device when needed and it does have to wait for you. And it can make it his own device by customizing it (painting the computer case, etc.).

This is were the Raspberry Pi steps in. You get a full-blown computer for a fraction of the price of a notebook/PC. But with the trade-off in performance. Though “normal” desktop applications like a text editor or a spreadsheet are possible. Even streaming a YouTube video is feasible.
